SUMMARY:Sports Homecoming Event at Old Anniesland
DESCRIPTION:We will be displaying the rich history of sporting achievement at Old Anniesland on Saturday 23rd March 2024 with a series of events and matches for current and former pupils\, parents\, staff and our wider school community. \nIt could be an opportunity for parents to play against their child\, and for former pupils to meet up once again and pull on the chocolate and gold or blue strip once more. \nHOCKEY\nThe hockey will take the format of Hockey 5’s and teams can be submitted to participate\, or you can submit your name as an individual and we can allocate you to a team. The hockey festival will run from 9.30am-12.30pm on our sand-based and water-based Astros at Old Anniesland \nRUGBY\nThe format of the rugby festival will be a 7-a-side touch rugby tournament\, allowing current pupils to play against former pupils and parent teams. This event will run from 10am-1pm on our five grass rugby pitches at Old Anniesland. As with the hockey\, teams can be submitted to participate\, or you can submit your name as an individual and we can allocate you to a team. \nWe would ask that all interested teams and individuals click on this link to complete the registration form. Food will be available on the day and the Pavilion Bar will be open from early afternoon and throughout the evening for anyone wishing to catch up with old friends. \nTours of the Senior School at Old Anniesland will also be available on the afternoon of Saturday 23rd March between 2pm-4pm for anyone who wishes to reacquaint themselves with the School buildings. \nWe hope to have a large number of teams entered to make it an event to remember!

DESCRIPTION:The High School of Glasgow London Club will be hosting its Annual London Club Reunion with a 900th twist on Friday 15th March 2024 at The Caledonian Club in the heart of London’s Belgravia. \nWith 2024 marking a momentous 900 years of HSOG\, this is the perfect opportunity to bring together members of our global School Community in celebration. \nWe’re delighted to introduce our new London Club co Presidents and hosts of this year’s Reunion: Christine Ansell (Class of 1983) and Ian Welsh (Class of 1991)\, who have taken over from Former London Club President\, Tom Kerr (Class of 2006) who held the post for a number of years and to whom we owe a great debt of gratitude for his tenure. \nThe evening will start for 6.30pm/7pm with a welcome drinks reception\, followed by a three-course dinner. DESCRIPTION:To launch our year of celebration\, we will be hosting our 900th Anniversary Gala Homecoming Dinner on Saturday 20th January 2024 at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Lyon & Turnbull is Scotland’s premier\, and one of the longest established fine art auctioneers in the United Kingdom. \nJames is well versed in the ins and outs of building successful business relationships. He is also an expert in conducting valuations for private collectors\, wealth managers and private client lawyers. In particular\, James has an interest in Glasgow Collectors. He began his career with Lyon & Turnbull in 2012 and has since worked his way up the business. Throughout his decade with the company\, James has held posts in administration\, business development and valuation. DESCRIPTION:We will be joined by Class of 1991 FP\, John Clark for our next Business Breakfast. \nJohn is the Chief Commercial Officer for Arnold Clark Motor Group\, the UK’s largest independently owned\, family-run car retailer. \nWhilst studying for his BA Town & Country Planning\, and latterly his MSc in Marketing\, John gained vital experience in his family’s business. Officially joining the company in 1996\, John has worked across all areas of the business giving him a comprehensive overview of how the company works. Come 1999\, he received his first appointment within a managerial capacity at the Helensburgh Ford site. \nThroughout his 26 years with Arnold Clark\, John has held a variety of positions. These include Franchise/Brand Manager\, Group Franchise Director\, and most recently Chief Commercial Officer. Furthermore\, John was responsible for leading one of the UK’s largest Volkswagen retailers and establishing Arnold Clark’s car-buying service. \nDue to his services to the motor industry\, John also found himself the recipient of the Strathclyde University Stellar Leadership Award. \nOver the years\, John has witnessed many of Arnold Clark’s milestones\, such as reaching 300\,000 car sales in one year. Not only was the company the first UK motor-dealer to surpass £100 million in profit\, but also the first to exceed £200 million in profit. \nCurrently\, Arnold Clark is aiming to sell 500\,000 cars by 2025. At the same time\, the company are committed to reducing their carbon footprint by 33% by 2030. \nDuring his talk\, John will be discussing Arnold Clark’s 2030 transformation plan.
