Jemma Robertson

Name: Jemma Robertson
Job: Director, GRA
Industry: Marketing
Class of: 2015
House: Clyde

What do you do?

I currently run a digital marketing agency in Glasgow called GRA. We are a small, nimble agency who are passionate about great creative ideas, sound strategic thinking & thorough, professional service. We’re a full service agency working across a wide range of different marketing services. Our client base spans just about every sector you can think of!

How did you get to where you are today?

I always knew I wanted to work in Marketing right from the moment I left school. My dad ran a successful agency for most of his adult life; I knew it was the path I wanted to follow. I love people and the idea of being able to shape the way consumers think about goods and services while delivering real, tangible results for clients excites me.

During university, I worked with my dad, and in 2019 I graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Business & Marketing degree. By that time, I was ready to start driving results for the small number of accounts that I managed. Funnily enough, I had never set out to work with my dad but instead found myself becoming more and more immersed in the role that it was difficult to say no! Sadly my dad is no longer with us, but I’ve been able to continue his legacy and grow the business he started.

What is a standout memory of your time at The High School of Glasgow?

Mostly, it was the sense of community we all had and the connection with the HSOG family that provides a rock that’s always there when you need it. This is something that we as former pupils of the school are so lucky to have and something that I appreciate more and more as time passes.

What one piece of advice would you give to current pupils and recent leavers as they look to their futures?

Find the ‘thing’ you are good at in life and become the best that you can possibly be at that thing. If you don’t know what that thing is yet, try everything until you find it.
