Mirrin Gillespie

Mirrin Gillespie Photo

Name: Mirrin Gillespie
Job: Regulatory Affairs Officer, Sanofi UK
Industry: Regulatory Affairs
Class of: 2017
House: Bannerman

What do you do?

I am a Regulatory Affairs Officer at Sanofi UK, an innovative global pharmaceutical company. My role within the company involves co-ordinating, preparing, submitting and following up registration and variation applications to the UK and/or Irish regulatory authorities. Doing so ensures that marketing authorisations are obtained and maintained in line with the company’s plans and goals. Additionally, I frequently support the launch of new products and the life cycle management of existing portfolios.

How did you get to where you are today?

I left The High School of Glasgow in 2017 and I was unsure what I wanted to do next. I ultimately decided to take a year out where I was lucky enough to travel to countries including Dubai, the French Alps, Brazil and Australia. My travels finished with a trip to the States where I went to Camp America just outside New York.

From here I completed my degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Dundee. I loved this degree as it gave me the opportunity to study both maths and physics, whilst also exposing my mind to the medical side of engineering.

Graduating from university with a First Class Honours Degree, I applied for a placement at Sanofi UK as a Country Trade Team Intern. After five months in this role, I applied internally for a few positions which ultimately led me to the role that I’m in today.

What is a standout memory of your time at The High School of Glasgow?

Being Bannerman House Captain and winning the House Shield in my sixth year are definitely stand out memories. It was actually a very unexpected, but amazing way, to finish my HSOG career.

What one piece of advice would you give to current pupils and recent leavers as they look to their futures?

Don’t panic. You have so much time to figure things out. I’ve been in this new job for three months and I didn’t even know the role existed six months ago. My advice would be to always put in 100% effort and learn from everything you do.
