900km sponsored cycle in aid of the Bursary Fund

September 18 @ 8:00 am - September 26 @ 2:00 pm

As part of our ongoing celebrations of our 900th anniversary year, a group of staff and senior pupils will be embarking on a 900km sponsored cycle in support of the Bursary Fund. The cyclist will depart from Drewsteignton, in Devon on Wednesday 18th September and will cycle north over a period of nine days to reach Glasgow Cathedral, the site of our School’s founding, on Thursday 26th September, in time for our Annual Commemoration & Thanksgiving Service.

We hope that many members of our wider High School community across the UK will turn out to support, cheer Team HSOG on, or even join them for sections of the route. The current plan will cover the following approximate route over the nine days:

Wednesday 18th September, Day 1 – Drewsteignton to Glastonbury (126km)
Thursday 19th September, Day 2 – Glastonbury to Stroud (107km)
Friday 20th September, Day 3 – Stroud to Kidderminster (94km)
Saturday 21st September, Day 4 – Kidderminster to Stoke-on-Trent (102km)
Sunday 22nd September, Day 5 – Stoke-on-Trent to Todmorden (107km)
Monday 23rd September, Day 6 – Todmorden to Sedbergh (115km)
Tuesday 24th September, Day 7 – Sedbergh to Carlisle (102km)
Wednesday 25th September, Day 8 – Carlisle to Crawford (93km)
Thursday 26th September, Day 9 – Crawford to Glasgow Cathedral (73km)

Riders will finish their momentous cycle on a special day, our Annual Commemoration & Thanksgiving Service . We plan to increase capacity in the Cathedral to ensure as many members of our community can attend this service as possible. Please do keep your eyes out for more information about this via email and on social media in the lead up to the Service to secure your place.

If you are interested in joining Team HSOG for part, or all of, the route (please note, you would have to cover the costs of your own accommodation, food and travel), or if you would be able to assist with some of the following, such as sponsorship for support vehicles, cycling kit and accommodation, or you have a specialism in bike maintenance and can assist the team with ongoing repairs, then please get in touch with us as soon as possible at admin@hsog.co.uk using “Team HSOG” as the subject line.
