Michael was born in Tain, Rosshire on 20th January 1942. He joined the High School aged eight and ultimately played rugby for the 1st XV and reached the rank of colour sergeant in the Cadet Corps.
After leaving school he went to Ross Hall, the Scottish Hotel School which was part of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Commercial College. A hotelier for forty years, Michael’s final position was CEO of Virgin Hotels working for Richard Branson.
Outside of work, he was a member of Henley Golf Club where he was a former Captain, Chairman and President making a huge contribution to the Club. In more recent years, he created the Association of James Braid. He was a gentlemen of his age and a true Scot.
Sadly Michael passed away peacefully on 20th March 2025 at the age of 83. He leaves behind his wife Mary, daughter Mhairi and grandsons Callum and Finn.
